you should try an insurance broker, but it also depends on your conviction.
or try contacting social work department or a probation officer to see if they can recommend any specialist companies although you might find you pay a lot more than someone without a conviction.
also check the rehabilitation of offenders act to check if you do definitely need to disclose it
I have taken out public liability Insurance for various events and my own business. I have never been asked if I have criminal convictions, it has no bearing on it whatsoever.

Liability insurance for someone with a criminal record is a specialised area and not all insurers will take it on. You may need a high-risk insurer or a specialist insurer.

can cover people with criminal convictions but it does depend on what the conviction is. I would of thought that minor or irrelevant convictions will not pose any problems.
…and for the person who said it has no bearing on insurance at all then they should think again. What if you were convicted last week for insurance fraud – I’m sure the insurer would want to know about this?! Your insurer should have asked you when you took out your policy and if they didn’t then there is probably something in your proposal or statement of fact that would have said that you need to declare any material facts (which would include relevant convictions)
