Public liablity insurance (UK)?

I had a plumber in this morning, who disconnected the main power supply to work on the electric shower, but now we could not get any electric in the property at all. He called for his electrician and said that any major repairs / board faults will be at my expense. Can I ask him to claim that under his public liability insurance cover? Thanks

    What was he doing to the electrics?
    As you say disconnect rather than turn off, I deduce he’s changing a board maybe? He should have determined that the installation was fault-free before commencement, and if not advised you before leaving you without power.

    Chances are that the numpty has connected something the wrong way round, or the main suppliers fuse has blown, and he just hasn’t realised.

    Ask for a written statement of what the electrician discovers and if he’s going to charge you a fortune to get a ‘new’ board working tell the plumber him to re-instate the old board while you think about it. That’ll learn ‘im…
