Contact your insurance company and also inform the police.

Some people are like this, because in the UK they do not want to loose their no claims bonus or like you say do not have any insurance.

Stick to your guns and do what you can. The same thing happened to me and the Police were great.
Good luck

If you haven't already done so, you should file a police report. Check with your own insurance company if you have Uninsured Motorists, most states only have a small $250 deductible to use your own Uninsured and will provide a rental car. Then Your own insurance company will fix your vehicle, once your vehicle is returned back to you - your insurance company will then go after the other person they believe to be at fault to see if they can recover any of their money or yours. If they do they will return the $250 back to you. If you even got the name of his insurance company you can also try calling a main 1 800 # for them to file a claim based on his name too, but to avoid the whole mess, if you can afford $250 or so, go thru your own company. It won't make your insurance go up since its a not at fault, only if you just file a lot of claims over a period of time, or a lot of at fault claims would you have to worry about that.

bring another person with you as witness or record it on phone when you ask for more details on him, viz. full name; address; his insurance details and reiterate that he hit you in the course of the conversation.
Pass all his details to your insurance company with two quotations from two separate garages or one appointed by your insurance company. Let the insurance company deal with him. If he isn't insured, the legal services in your policy should cover the costs of taking him to court.

Call the local police, not 999 as it is for emergencies only.
If he wouldn't give you his address or phone no he obviously has no insurance. He has behaved illegally so you may be able to get some cash from victim support but you must tell the police and they will be able to tell you what to do. They will also give you a crime no which you will need to go through your insurance company and also for victim support.
Best of luck.

Contact the police if he will not give his details.
If it turns out that he is not insured, you will be doing the community a favour, also, if this is the case you can apply to the British Insurance Association, they have a fund that covers losses incurred by un insured drivers.

You need to report this to the police, it seems he is NOT insured, the police can check. You will have to claim off your insurance anyway. Your insurance company may chase this claim for you but him not being insured you are going to end up paying anyway !

Speak to your insurance company. If he is insured, they will sort it out and you won't lose your no claims bonus. If he's not insured, they'll make sure he's prosecuted and they will try to recover the money from him personally.

If he does not want to cough up...try going to the police for help. As longa s you have the registration you (or the police) may be able to track him through the licencing agency (DVLA if you are in England).
If no luck there, try your local Citizen's Advice Buruea

Directly contact his insurance company, ask to speak to the third party team and have them repair your car for you. Simplest way really.

Edit your question with the person's reg and I should be able to locate who their insurance is.
