The world’s gone mad !!. We’re confronted with TV adverts for liability lawyers. They tell tales of TV aerial erectors falling off ladders (he was given the wrong ladder), or people slipping over on a puddle in the reception area. Hasn’t she got any eyes ?, I didn’t see her walking into the building with a white stick or accompanied by a blind dog. Similarly, the TV aerial erector was presumably an experienced man, so why didn’t he recognise that it was the wrong ladder on his van?. Again, he wasn’t blind, simply stupid !.
So now we have to pay for insurance to protect us from claims made by stupid people. In fact I don’t know why insurers don’t rename their products to “stupid people insurance” rather than “liability insurance”.
Sadly, things will only get worse, so any business, large or small, should take out liability insurance. Several of the big UK insurers now offer online liability insurance at prices considerably less than those that can be obtained through a broker, simply by cutting out the middleman. With products from Direct Line, More Than and Hiscox, there is a good selection of products that will fit a variety of situations.
