in case some one falls down the stairs, there is a car accident, anything that kids can get into and be hurt – every day stuff, but you will in a Way be acting as guardians, so you DO need liability insurance, falling off the stage and spraining a wrist could end up with you being sued?
One of the things you need to do is get a parental permission slip which should include (in addition to permission to go in the first place) a release authorizing the chaperon es to make emergency medical decisions. But PLEASE don’t get your answers for this just from people like me chatting on a website. Talk to the insurance broker of the Organization sponsoring the club. If it is just the club and no insurance is involved get advise from your own insurance agent and/or a lawyer.
General liability insurance, you might want to consider molestation coverage, and travel accident coverage. Depending on how many trips, where you’re going, and the age of the children, assuming they are day trips, the GL coverage will probably cost you about $1,000 a year, and the travel accident $750 a year. Molestation coverage will be EXPENSIVE.
Now, none of this is REQUIRED by law, but if I were an officer of the club, I wouldn’t want the personal lawsuit.
You definetly need at least $1mil in auto liab coverage, and accident policy and probably a special events policy for the venue. You may be able to find a policy that will cover your travels at each venue, but most likely not since different states have different laws and a company has to be licensed in the state you are performing in for their policy to cover you there. Get a good agent who knows their stuff. It may not be cheap, but think about how expensive it will be if you have an accident and no insurance to cover it.
You should get information online first
Speak to the agent you already have for your auto or homeowners insurance.
Have you thought about a travel insurance package?
This will cover injury or illness whilst abroad, legal expenses, personal liability, personal accident, baggage etc etc
You might want to check out they are usually very helpful and would be able to offer a very good price for a group booking.
