Right i have been self employed all my and recently i have had to start again,
I have a idea which is kinda weird but tell me what you think
I am thinking of setting up a company that deals in desert island self sufficient get aways, basically aiming at people who want a challenge, who have been in the same job for years, or who have achieved what they set out to do work wise and have become successful but now wonder what it is all about and are looking for a real challenge,
I have found various small unpopulated islands around the world, and my idea is to set these people up with all the tools they will need, and sort survival manual specifically written for that island, supply them with wood, and fishing nets a small row boat and a guide who is off island but who they can call on anytime if things get ruff, obviously theres a lot more to than that but that is a basic outline i would need Satellite phones in case of emergency and constant weather reports, and insurance disc lamers ETC: but you get the idea
It’s pretty much to live the shipwrecked experience for a week or 3 depending, a holiday to push your self to achieve something and get away from the hectic world we all live in now a days bit like tom hanks on castaway
i have found no other company who offers this service what do you think??
i will add im not looking at renting luxery island’s i’m talking about very small unpopulated where the nearest local popultaion is the next island away, im mean survival holidays that will help support the local econmey that will bring business to the very poor small island populations, i will need to buy live stock from these people, fishing nets etc and need the island cleaning up afterwards, from what i have researched some goverments welcome any foreign investment to help there sparce island populations my idea is not one of luxery, but pushing yourself to live build and survive away from the modern world for a while

There are already island rentals and they go for $1000/day to $1M per week. It’s an exclusive industry.

What king of people do you wanna select for the islands? Isolated groups can be dangerous to..themselves.
It’s a very limited market and I think you would struggle, especially in the current economic climate. You are right in saying that foreign governments welcome overseas investments, but just what are you investing? Just how much livestock and fishing gear do you anticipate needing? These aren’t tourists who would boost an economy as they won’t be spending much money whilst they are there – if there are lots of things to spend their money on then they’re not getting away from it all. Insurance disclaimers are a bit of a minefield and aren’t always legally binding – they don’t absolve you of any responsibility.
Sounds like there would be a nice niche market out there. If you have the money available im sure you could recoup soon enough.
Everyone would need to be kept completely safe though.
